information on when immunocompromised individuals can get their bivalent booster

As we pass the third anniversary of COVID-19, individuals have begun to question how frequently they will need to be vaccinated against the novel virus. In recent months, the newer FDA-approved bivalent booster has offered protection against both the original and Omicron strains of COVID-19. As the virus mutates, new vaccines will be created to keep up with the changing times. A new study from Yale University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has found that healthy individuals should get annual COVID-19 boosters to prevent widespread outbreaks, as previous annual shots have prevented 75% of infections. Individuals who are moderate to severely immunocompromised are also recommended to get a COVID-19 bivalent booster at least two months after their last primary series vaccination or booster. Check out the following table for more information on when immunocompromised individuals can get their bivalent booster!

For healthcare workers: As many individuals are experiencing COVID-19 fatigue, it can be difficult to continue conversations about COVID-19 precautions. The CDC offers amazing resources to help you discuss COVID-19 with the individuals you serve, including how to care for patients with COVID-19, information about isolation and precautionary measures, and a Testing Communication Toolkit to help communicate with the individuals you serve.
